Opportunities for Peer-Learning and Mentoring through the Making a Living from Local Food
The Making a Living from Local Food programme helps support the growth, learning and development of aspiring or recently established Scottish food entrepreneurs through a series of peer-learning and mentoring opportunities.
This is a flexible, self-led programme where the applicant is responsible for getting the most out of the opportunities provided. It should be noted that although this programme helps to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences; it is not a training programme.
Between 15 and 20 successful applicants will receive mentoring and peer-to-peer support; designed to offer assistance for whatever stage the food enterprise is at. Participants will be placed in peer groups of between five and seven with each peer group being assigned one mentor. Over an eight month period, peer groups will meet five times for three house sessions facilitated by their mentor. During these sessions, participants will explore specific themes and challenges related to developing and running their business.
There will be five one-to-one hours with a personal mentor throughout the programme's duration. Participants will also be invited to attend three whole-group events hosted at farms throughout Scotland: an opening event taking place 29 June 2017, a networking event taking place September 2017 and a closing ceremony, taking place December 2017. Furthermore, participants will have access to a variety of online resources and materials, as well as to the Facebook group where they will have the chance to network with other local food producers.
Participants will be required to contribute £100 towards the costs of the programme however if they are a Nourish member they will receive a £20 discount. Interested parties should fill in the 2017 application form, submitting this by email, and will be made aware of the outcome by 5 June 2017. The programme will run from June to December 2017.
The next deadline for applications is 31 May 2017.
